In 2024, we’re proud to have welcomed a diverse group of new joiners. Our recent hires come from varied backgrounds - some at the beginning of their careers and others joining with extensive experience in the criminal justice sector.
This autumn we have recruited three permanent members of staff: Head of Strategy and Insight Rebecca Inskip, Senior Strategy and Insight Manager Kelvin Williams and Project Officer Will Blackhall.
Rebecca joined Crest after three years as Programme Director for Serious Violence Prevention at Devon and Cornwall Police, where she led a pioneering public health approach to tackling serious violence, including designing and overseeing the recovery response in Plymouth following the 2021 mass shooting. Previously, Rebecca built and led the Strong Cities Network to support over 140 cities worldwide in countering extremism and misinformation, also leading on a range of wider initiatives at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue. Rebecca has expertise in providing training, policy advice and consultancy, including to the UN, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the Global Counter Terrorism Forum, the European Commission and a number of national and local governments from around the world.
Before joining Crest, Kelvin worked as a Senior Policy Advisor at the Home Office, where he served as a policy lead on Public Order Policing and worked on the delivery of new Primary and Secondary legislation. Kelvin also previously worked at the College of Policing, where he led work on the development of national police investigation guidelines in England and Wales. Kelvin holds an BSc in Social Policy with Government from the London School of Economics and an MSc in International Social and Public Policy, also from the London School of Economics.
Before Crest, Will worked as a Producer and Development Producer within Factual and Factual Entertainment Television, overseeing the development of productions on multiple projects for the UK and international distributors. In this role he developed a series for PBS working with the US Department of Justice (DOJ), exploring the different agencies under the DOJ umbrella. As a Project Officer, Will ensures projects are delivered on time, to budget and with Crest’s hallmark of quality.
Alongside hiring permanent members of staff, our internship programme continues to be an entry point for anyone at the beginning of their working career who has an interest in crime and justice. We take pride in our interns’ successes. The fact that 1/3 of our analysts, managers and heads of departments started as interns at Crest is a demonstration of the programme’s success. We are very happy to announce our newest interns: Sabha Chaudhary and Danielle Banks.
Sabha joined us on the Micro Placement Programme from City University, before rejoining Crest as a Finance and Procurement Intern whilst taking a year out from her BSc in Economics and Accounting.
Before joining Crest, Danielle worked as an administrative assistant at Children Heard and Seen, a charity which supports children with imprisoned parents. She also has experience in a range of research roles, including at the Lund Trust where she supported the production of a report on how to direct funds to help solve noise pollution in the UK. Danielle also holds an MSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford.
We continue to have an ongoing partnership with the Civil Service Fast Stream, where we offer civil servants from any of the 15 schemes six-month placements.
Sharon Amuwo joined us from the project delivery branch of the Fast Stream. Sharon has previously been posted at the Department for Work and Pensions as a Project Support Officer in the Project Management Office of the Joint Work and Health Directorate. Before joining the Fast Stream, Sharon completed a History and Political Economy BA at King's College London and studied abroad at University of California, Los Angeles majoring in Political Science.
Ben Morris has joined us from the Finance Fast Stream where he held various roles across several government departments. Ben served as a Finance Business Partner at the Home Office, where he was instrumental in setting up the Victims of Terrorism Support Fund, and as a Commercial Finance Business Partner at the Department for Work and Pensions. Ben also worked as a Financial Strategist at the Cabinet Office.
