Wednesday 4 October 2023

Former Head of Home Affairs and Justice at the Behavioural Insights Team, Sophie Davis, has joined Crest to lead our in-house think tank, Crest Insights.

Crest Insights' mission is to do the hard thinking that drives policy reform and makes communities safer – through researching issues affecting the whole of the criminal justice system.

Our evidence-led think tank works together with organisations across the justice system and wider public sector. You can read more about our past projects and publications here.

Sophie has a wide range of experience working with government departments, police forces and senior officials in the criminal justice sector. Among her previous roles, she was a political adviser to the Shadow Justice Secretary and Shadow Leader of the House of Lords where she specialised in crime and justice policy.

Alongside her post at Crest, Sophie is an elected councillor and served as Cabinet Member for Community Safety at Lewisham Council. She is a qualified solicitor, having trained at the global law firm, Hogan Lovells.

Sophie says:

“I’m delighted to be joining Crest Advisory and to lead the organisation’s newly established Crest Insights practice. With a general election coming up in which crime and justice is likely to feature prominently, and with violence against women and girls, police reform and online harms high up on the agenda, Crest Insights will deliver the analysis and ideas to drive change across the criminal justice sector.”
