Analyst Job Description

Analysts undertake research and analysis, and support the delivery of projects to produce fresh, cutting-edge policy insight across Crest’s Strategy and Insight work.


Main purpose and scope

 
  • Carry out high quality analysis in service of projects undertaken on behalf of clients and ensure the analysis is presented in a compelling way.

  • Train/develop other team members to develop high quality analysis.

  • Use analysis to produce fresh, cutting-edge insight, both for projects and as part of wider Crest thought leadership efforts.

  • Provide project management support to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.

  • Work to ensure that Crest is seen as an organisation with the highest standards of analytical rigour and policy insight.

  • Building partnership and alliances with academics, think tanks and other like-minded organisations.


Position in organisation

 
  • Reports to: Senior Analyst/Strategy and Insight Manager

  • Responsible for: leading and developing analysis and research across the organisation



Duties and key responsibilities

 
  • Design and conduct high quality analysis in the service of projects across the team and for wider thought leadership efforts.

  • Supporting the delivery of projects/products for clients, which achieve impact and enhance Crest’s reputation for excellence.

  • Develop new policy/analytical insights and methodologies, which help cement Crest’s position as the country’s leading specialists on criminal justice policy.

  • Ensure the team is up to date with the most recent policy/analytical/research literature, and supporting newer team members to develop analytical skills.

  • Ensure appropriate recording of activities in line with Crest Advisory processes.

The post-holder may be asked to complete tasks not listed above but which are within the scope of the role.

Salary

 

A competitive salary will be paid depending upon skills and experience, ranging between £25,000 and £32,000 (pro-rata).



Hours and place of work

 

As an Analyst you would usually work from our London office, 40 hours per week full-time; a part-time arrangement can be considered. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic you are likely to work from home at least some of the time. This will be reviewed as government guidance changes. Occasional travel to client sites is also a requirement of the role, but again this will depend on government guidance.
