Dame Louise Casey DBE CB is a former British government official and experienced leader in the most complex social policy and services. Working for four Prime Ministers in over two decades, Louise has consistently delivered brave and innovative solutions, and preventions, to long standing social problems within criminal justice and beyond; within Government, she led on a variety of issues ranging from the Anti-Social Behaviour Unit, the Troubled Families programme, to victim support and Child Sexual Exploitation. At the request of the Prime Minister, she led a review into community cohesion and extremism, published December 2016.

 

Since leaving the civil service in 2017, Louise continues to specialise addressing difficult social problems and driving responsive public services. In 2018, she joined Crest Advisory as a Strategic Advisor. She advises Crest on the outputs and recommendations of specialist client work. She helps Crest support those working on the most complex and pressing challenges, empowering stakeholders to tackle and drive meaningful change in their sector.

 

Louise is also a Visiting Professor at King’s College London and a guest lecturer at the London School of Economics, leading on a wide range of interlinking social policy issues. Throughout her career, Louise has been committed to tackling homelessness in the UK; she recently co-founded and Chairs the Institute for Global Homelessness, with the aim of delivering an international solution to homelessness across the world.

Key achievements​​
 

  • Head of the Rough Sleepers’ Unit in 1999 under the Prime Minister where she successfully led the strategy and action to reduce the numbers of homeless people living on the streets by two thirds within a three-year period.

  • Director of the national Anti-Social Behaviour Unit in 2003 and Head of the Respect Task Force in 2005.

  • The UK’s first Victim’s Commissioner in 2010.

  • Director General of the government’s Troubled Families programme in 2011, helping 120,000 families turn their lives around.

  • Undertook the Inspection into Child Sexual Exploitation in Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council in South Yorkshire in 2015.

  • Led the Integration Review into community cohesion and extremism in the United Kingdom, published December 2016.

  • Co-founder and Chair of the Institute for Global Homelessness.

  • Dame Louise was awarded the Companion of the Order of Bath (CB) in the Queen's birthday honours list, 2008 and made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the Queen's birthday honours list, 2016.
